Laura Nicole Norris - Keith Alexander Mills

 Laura Nicole Norris and Keith Alexander Mills of Pollocksville were united in marriage June 14, 2008, at Garber United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kent Smith and Dr. Jim Oliver officiating.

The bride is the daughter of George and Suzette Norris of Trenton. She is the granddaughter of the late Sherwood and Laura Norris of New Bern, the late Margaret Moore Turner Murphy of Kinston and the late Arden Weldon Turner of Kinston.

The bridegroom is the son of Edgar and Alexis Mills of Trenton. He is the grandson of the late Gurney Franklin and Josephine Mills of Trenton and the late Alexander and Sonia White Williams of Vanceboro.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a pale gold vintage taffeta gown with a strapless neckline and a corset back that flowed into a semi-cathedral train. The fitted bodice was ordained with asymmetrical beaded Chantilly lace and a crystal pendant at the center of the empire waist. The skirt was accented with gentle folds of fabric that were upswept at the side to reveal the enchanting ivory lace hem. The skirt was accented with subtle pick ups to complete the gown. Her fingertip length ivory veil featured beads and crystal accents to match the gown. In her hair, the bride wore a gold Jane Tran comb with fresh water pearl and Swarovski crystals that complimented the gown.

The bride carried a round bouquet of cream, peach and pale pink peonies, Virginia roses and Vandella roses with green hydrania and stephanotis. The bouquet was finished with an ivory satin wrap.

Nuptial music was provided by organist Carolyn Shaffer and soloist Betty Jean Norris, aunt of the bride.

Reader was Dena White Waters, friend of the bride.

The matrons of honor were Cathy Norris Hallam of Cary, sister of the bride, and Ashley Andrews Heath of Kinston, close friend of the bride.

Bridesmaids were Pamela Norris Acord of Hampstead, cousin of the bride, Lori Owen Barrow of Blanch, Kimberly Mills Batchelor of Trenton, sister of the groom, Leigh Berg of New Bern, Rachel Burton Kincaid of Midlothian Virginia, Lauren Roach of Raleigh, Amber Lynch Whitley of Wilson and Tiffany Yokeley of Statesville. Bridesmaids wore a sky blue satin strapless tea-length dress with a cascading ruffle hem by Alvina Valenta.

Honorary bridesmaid was Mary Heidenreich Rader of Wilmington.

Chloe Norris and Grayson Waters were the flower girls.

Best man was Edgar Mills, father of the groom.

Groomsmen were Kinley Andrews, Brian Higgins, and Kevin Mills, brother of the groom, all from Pollocksville, and William Batchelor, Dennis Mills, Jeremiah Smith, Nicholas Norris and George David Norris, Jr., brother of the bride, all from Trenton.

Blake Batchelor and Tanner Batchelor, the groom's nephews, were the junior groomsman and ring bearer, respectively.

Greeter was Megan Ginn of Kinston.

Program attendants were Keely Mills and Langley Mills, both of Trenton.

Assisting with the wedding was Rachel Munro of Bridal by the Sea and Lexanne Huffman.

A reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held at New Bern Golf and Country Club.

Assisting with the reception was Rachel Munro and Nicole Brooks.

Additional wedding parties included a December 29 Christmas shower given by the bride's matrons of honor, Cathy Hallam and Ashley Heath at Mrs. Hallam's home in Cary; a March 16 miscellaneous shower given by members of the groom's family; a March 29 Low Country Boil and Stock the Bar and Grill Party at the home of the couple's friends, David and Mary Heidenreich; a May 4 Couple's Shower and dinner given by Cypress Creek Methodist Church; and a May 18 Around-the House Shower at the home of Mrs. Arlette Ervin.

A bachelorette beach weekend and lingerie shower was held May 29 through June 1 in Atlantic Beach and hosted by Ashley Heath and Cathy Hallam, sister of the bride. A Bridesmaids' Luncheon, hosted by Mrs. Betty Jean Norris and Mrs. Pamela Norris Acord, was held June 13 at Aerie Bed and Breakfast. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents on June 13 at Riverbend Marina and Café and a Farewell Breakfast was given by the bride's parents along with Curtis and Arlette Ervin on June 15 at The Little Teapot.

The couple took a honeymoon trip to St. Lucia.

The bride graduated from Meredith College and is employed as a paralegal with Emanuel and Dunn, PLLC.

The bridegroom is self-employed at Edgar Mills and Sons Farms.

The couple resides in Pollocksville.
