David and Renee English of Kinston announce the birth of a daughter, Rachel Renee English, on June 28, 2008, at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

The baby weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 ¼ inches long.

The mother is the former Renee Wooten of New Bern.

Grandparents are Ken and Jane Wooten of New Bern and John and Benita English of Fayetteville, Ga.

Great-grandparents are Evelyn Bryant and Doris and Floyd Wooten of Rich Square, Ward and Shirley Lawton of West Minister, S.C., and John English Sr. of Peach Tree City, Ga.

Bill and Natalie Porter of Burbank, Calif., announce the birth of a daughter, Sophia Madeline Porter, July 16, 2008, at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Burbank.

The baby weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.

The mother is the former Natalie Banks of New Bern.

The baby weighed 3 pounds, 13 ounces and was 17 ½ inches long.
