Residents are being invited to the New Bern Police Department on Thursday for a look at a new system called the Eastern Regional Information Center network.

The network provides a way for 13 law enforcement agencies to share, analyze and disseminate information about terrorists and criminal threats in Eastern North Carolina..

Participating agencies are the police departments in Greenville, Jacksonville New Bern, Havelock, Kinston and Wilmington, and sheriff's offices in Brunswick, Carteret, Craven, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender and Pitt counties.

Residents can get a look at how the system works by going to the Police Department at 601 George St. at noon.
