Nate Healy, New Bern, pitcher
Healy was the New Bern baseball team's No. 1 pitcher in 2008. The 6-foot-6 senior finished the season with a 1.74 earned run average and recorded eight complete games. He struck out 57 batters in 67.1 innings of work.
Gabe Brown, New Bern, catcher
Brown was a major force in New Bern's lineup this past season. The junior catcher hit .377 with five home runs, 26 RBIs and 19 runs in the cleanup spot for the Bears. Brown also served as one of the main pitchers in New Bern's rotation.
Johnny Godette, Havelock, first baseman
Godette provided a solid bat for the Rams in 2008, hitting .333 with 18 runs batted in.
Logan Swindell, West Craven, second baseman
Hitting atop the West Craven lineup, Swindell served as the catalyst of the offense for the Eagles. He hit .317 with 14 runs and 14 RBIs.
Greg Moye, Pamlico, third baseman
Moye had a big season for the Hurricanes. The senior third baseman hit .465 with four home runs and 29 runs batted in. Moye finished with 33 base hits and only struck out four times in the season.
Chris Dorman, Havelock, shortstop
Dorman did a little bit of everything from the leadoff spot for the Rams. He hit .324 with 18 runs and 14 RBIs. He also had eight stolen bases on the season.
Justin Godette, Havelock, outfielder
Godette put together some of the best numbers on the Havelock roster in 2008. The sophomore outfielder/pitcher led the team with a .355 batting average. He also had five doubles, a home run and 11 runs batted in.
Brett Williams, New Bern, outifielder
Williams was nothing short of impressive in his senior season. The New Bern switch-hitter hit .390 with five home runs, 25 runs and 27 runs batted. He also stole 19 bases without being caught once.
Alan Edwards, West Craven, outfielder/first baseman
Edwards served as the leader for the Eagles in 2008. He hit .521 with four home runs, 19 runs and 31 runs batted in. Edwards was also one of the main pitchers in West Craven's rotation throughout his senior season.
Shawn Armstrong, West Craven, pitcher
When healthy, Armstrong's fastball has been clocked at 95 miles per hour. That's likely the reason why the recently graduated senior was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 33rd round of the Major League Baseball Draft in June. Armstrong finished the 2008 season with a 6-1 record, despite suffering bicep tendonitis midway through the season. He has committed to play collegiate baseball at East Carolina.
